What do you know about the tomato sauce on your pizza?
In tomato cultivation, products are counterfeited on a large scale and workers are exploited. We want to do something about this with our campaign “My pizza is fair!”. Right here with us, in your pizzeria.
We work together with the Italian organization NO CAP, which campaigns for ethical tomato production in the tomato fields of southern Italy. There’s no slavery on our pizza but lots of taste in it!
The CAPORALATO system
Caporalato is an Italian term that refers to the illegal practice of abusive employment agencies. Workers, often migrants, are exploited by so-called “caporali” for the lowest wages under inhumane working conditions. This form of exploitation is widespread in the agricultural sector in Italy and is in breach of labor laws and human rights.
The organization NO CAP was born in 2011 from the initiative of Yvan Sagnet as a movement to counteract “caporalato”, i.e. the illegal recruitment of workers, in agriculture and to promote awareness and respect for human, social and environmental rights.
NO CAP supports agricultural workers in legal matters, raises awareness of wrongdoing and supports agricultural companies in the implementation of ethical supply chains. These companies are rewarded with the NO CAP label.
Want to bite into your pizza with a clear conscience?
Become a tomato fairtrade activist!
Take our flyer to your local pizzeria. Ask which tomato sauce is on the pizza. If you’re shown that there are already fairtrade tomatoes on it – great!
If not, then advertise for us! Tell them why it’s important to you which tomatoes are on your pizza. And hand the pizzeria our flyer.
You can download and print out our flyer yourself or you can order free campaign material from us. We will send you flyers and stickers by post free of charge.
I want to take part! Send me information material.
